Billboard released its top 10 reggae artist of 2007 and the Marley clan made 3 of the top 10. I was surprise to see Matisyahu at the top position beating out Bob Marley. With all the flak that Buju Banton has received over the past year, he managed to make the number 8 position. Beenie Man also demonstrates that he is still a force to be reckon with and his arch rival Bounti Killa did not make the top 10.

It is very disturbing to hear that thousands of original recordings of the 1970s music have disappeared from the archives of the former Jamaica Broadcasting Corp. (JBC), reports reaching here said Saturday.

Earlier this week, workers at the newly formed Public Broadcasting Corp. of Jamaica found that a massive collection of vinyl records and compact discs were missing from the old JBC building, Jamaican Information Minister Olivia Grange said.

They had planned to make their first programs with the valuable recordings, she added.
