I just finish reading the book Jamaican Warriors : Reggae, Roots and Culture by Stephen Foehr. For those who don’t know Stephen Foehr, he is a travel writer who has been to many places across the globe, some of these places where many of us would never venture. He is not a Jamaican but his book captured the essence of the Jamaican culture seen through his eyes as he journey into the places not typically visited by tourist.

The Jamaican culture is often misunderstood by many foreigners with limited knowledge of its origin. However, Stephen provide a vivid explanation of how the current musical strings were stitched together to form Reggae and dancehall. There are few cases where a writer is able to convey such deep cultural connection. The book is easy to read for those who are attracted to the Jamaican culture and will leave a burning desire to visit the land of Reggae for those who have never set foot on the rock.
