Buju Banton won the Excellence in Music & Entertainment (EME) Album Of The Year award for Too Bad, beating out such fierce contenders as Stephen Marley, Tarrus Riley, Da'Ville, Chuck Fender and Lady Saw.

Yesterday, I went to the nearest CD store and purchase the long awaited Buju Banton's latest Album "Too Bad'. The album represented a return to Buju Banton's original roots, hardcore dancehall reggae.

I love his song "Too Bad" as the lyrics from this song rings "Outta Road Nuff Gal a mad ova me" with rhythm tracks from the late 90's. This is truly Buju in his element. I think in this album, Buju's is attempting to silence his critics. Some people mentioned this Buju has gone "too soft" and political and is being overshadowed by other dancehall artist such as Bennie Man.

However, don't come to the conclusion that Buju is simply falling back to his "old ways” The song "Me and Onnu" done to the 1960's rock and roll rhythm is truly a work of magic. I played that tune over and over and couple of my non-Jamaican friends fell in love with this tune. Though many struggle to pronounce his name..

Buju also delivers his political message in the tune "Till it Bend", talking about guns in the society. You might have to listen twice to understand the message that he is trying to get through. However, no need to guess what message Buju is delivering in “Go Slow”, a song laced with the reality of the Jamaican economy especially important
